Year of the Reindeer – Farm Visit
Step into the world of the reindeer and get an up-close look at these iconic Arctic animals. During this guided visit to the reindeer farm, you'll have the opportunity to feed the reindeer, observe their behavior, and learn about the deep-rooted traditions of reindeer herding and the culture of the reindeer people.
Reindeer herding is a centuries-old tradition that has remained largely unchanged over thousands of years and is still actively practiced in Lapland. The animals are perfectly adapted to the harsh northern climate, and reindeer husbandry follows the natural rhythms of the seasons. In the summer, most reindeer roam freely in the wilderness, returning closer to human care when needed—especially during snow-heavy winters, when they may require supplemental feeding.

Winter months offer the most rewarding experience—reindeer are concentrated near the farm and require active herding management, making behaviour and care practices easier to observe. Summer visits are possible but most animals roam free in the wilderness, reducing close encounters.
