About this activity

Meet reindeer in their natural Lapland habitat during this immersive 90-minute farm visit where you'll feed the animals, observe their behaviour, and learn about centuries-old herding traditions still practised by indigenous Sámi communities. This hands-on experience reveals how reindeer are perfectly adapted to Arctic winters and the seasonal rhythms that govern their care.

Year of the Reindeer – Farm Visit

Step into the world of the reindeer and get an up-close look at these iconic Arctic animals. During this guided visit to the reindeer farm, you'll have the opportunity to feed the reindeer, observe their behavior, and learn about the deep-rooted traditions of reindeer herding and the culture of the reindeer people.

Reindeer herding is a centuries-old tradition that has remained largely unchanged over thousands of years and is still actively practiced in Lapland. The animals are perfectly adapted to the harsh northern climate, and reindeer husbandry follows the natural rhythms of the seasons. In the summer, most reindeer roam freely in the wilderness, returning closer to human care when needed—especially during snow-heavy winters, when they may require supplemental feeding.
