No. The guide teaches proper technique at the start, and the trails are suitable for first-timers. Moderate fitness helps, as you'll walk ~5 km in snow.

What amethysts will I find, and can I keep them?

You'll dig small to medium amethyst crystals from the working mine site. All stones you extract are yours to take home as a souvenir.

Is winter clothing included in the EUR 150 price?

No. Winter gear rental (insulated jacket, pants, boots) costs €10/person extra if you don't bring your own. Thermal layers are essential.

How do I get to the mine from the base?

You snowshoe through the forest to the bottom of Lampivaara Fell, then ride a heated cable car to the summit where the mine is located. You snowshoe back down.

What if I can't do 5 km of snowshoeing?

The full experience requires ~5 km of snowshoeing. Contact the operator (kairankutsu@gmail.com) ahead of booking to discuss any mobility concerns or modifications.

Are pickups included?

Hotel/accommodation pickups are free and depart 30 minutes before the tour start time. If you arrange your own transport, meet the group at Ukko-Luosto parking lot at the scheduled start time.

Discover Lapland's winter magic on a guided snowshoeing adventure through pristine forest to the Lampivaara Amethyst Mine, where you'll dig for your own gemstones at 2,000+ feet elevation. This immersive 4-hour experience combines Nordic outdoor skills with geological wonder in Pyhä-Luosto National Park.

The Pyhä-Luosto National Park is a great place to learn snowshoeing. An experiences guide will take the participants through a snowy forest and then catch a warm ride to the top of the Lampivaara Fell, where wonderful landscapes surround the amethyst mine. After the interesting mine visit, where you can dig your own amethyst stone, we will snowshoe back to the car.

Please notice that snowshoe walking is around 5 km and total duration of the tour can be even up to 5 hours. Take some small snacks in the pocket if needed.
