From the Deepest Gorge to the Highest Peak

As you may have noticed, the landscapes and terrain in the national park changes quickly and places have some peculiar names that almost always have a meaning. Noitatunturi could be translated as “The Witch Fell”, Uhriharju as “Sacrifice Ridge”, Isokuru as “Big Gorge” and Karhunjuomalampi as “The Bear Drinking Pond” to mention a few.

Highlights of this experience are:
Tunturiaapa Nature Trail on the vast and beautiful mire with an observation tower providing a vast view over the wetland. The highest peak in the national park at Noitatunturi Fell, spectacular Uhriharju Ridge, Karhunjuomalampi Pond that is popular among the curious bird Siberian Jay, Pyhänkasteenputous Waterfall and of course the deep Isokuru Gorge

This experience takes a full day (about 8 hours) and is of moderate difficulty. Length of the walk is about 15 kilometres and the ascent to Noitatunturi Fell is rather challenging. There will be enough breaks to drink and snack on the way. Make sure to have good walking shoes, enough snacks and water to drink.

Arrive to the meeting point by the scheduled time of the experience.
