About this activity

The program begins with a transfer from Saariselkä to a local reindeer farm. Upon arrival, you will be provided with warm winter clothing, including thermal overalls, boots, wool socks, and mittens, ensuring comfort throughout the experience.

You will first get acquainted with the reindeer and receive a short safety briefing before setting off on a 45-minute reindeer sleigh ride through forest landscapes. Each sleigh typically accommodates two persons, although arrangements may vary depending on group or family size. Travel at a gentle pace and take in the silence and beauty of the surrounding nature, just as locals have done for centuries.

After the ride, you’ll have the opportunity to feed the reindeer, take photos, and spend time observing these iconic Arctic animals up close.

The experience continues indoors, where you can warm up with hot drinks such as coffee or cocoa, accompanied by a traditional Finnish bun. During this time, you’ll also hear stories about reindeer herding and life in Lapland.

As a special keepsake, you will receive an international reindeer driving license.
