Visit a local reindeer farm and enjoy a snowmobile safari in the Arctic Circle!

Your experience begins with a meeting with your guide at the set meeting points, where you'll be warmly dressed up before the take off to meet the reindeers. When everyone is ready, your journey to meet the reindeers at Reindeer Manor, 20-minutes drive away from the center of Rovaniemi, begins.

You can meet the friendly reindeer and enjoy a brief 500m long reindeer sledge ride. Local reindeer herders will be present to share their insights and address any queries you may have about the distinctive lifestyle and customs of the region’s reindeer herders. Gain a deeper understanding of how herders manage their reindeer and collaborate as a family to preserve their way of life. To add warmth, hot juice and biscuits will be served in the hut.

Following your visit to the farm, partake in a 1-hour snowmobile safari within the Arctic Circle, departure from our office in Santa Claus Village. Before setting off, your guide will give detailed driving instructions. After all the safety instructions are done, the real fun begins when it´s time to start your 1-hour long journey through stunning Arctic landscapes!

About halfway through, we’ll take a short break, giving you the chance to take some photos and switch drivers if you are traveling in pairs.

Insider tips

  • Wear multiple thin layers under the provided winter gear—the snowmobile experience is windy and intense cold exposure is real
  • Arrive early at the meeting point to allow time for proper suit-up; guides are strict about safety equipment for good reason
  • Request the afternoon time slot if possible—better light for photos and reindeer are often more active late in the day
  • If you're nervous about snowmobiles, mention it to your guide; they pair less confident riders with experienced operators for the driver swap

Good to know

  • Thermal clothing, waterproof boots, and gloves provided; bring warm layers underneath and sunglasses (snow glare is intense)
  • Meeting points in central Rovaniemi; 20-minute transfer to Reindeer Manor, then snowmobile departure from Santa Claus Village area
  • Minimum fitness required for snowmobile operation; riders must be able to hold on and shift weight; age/experience restrictions may apply
  • No prior snowmobile experience necessary—guides provide full instruction before departure
