Question 1

What is the best time to visit Ireland?

Accepted Answer

May to September offers the warmest weather and longest daylight, with temperatures around 15–18°C (59–64°F), though it's also peak tourist season. April and October provide milder crowds with decent weather. Winter (November–February) is coldest and wettest but fewer tourists, lower prices, and dramatic coastal scenery appeal to hardy travellers.

Question 2

How many days do I need to visit Ireland?

Accepted Answer

3–5 days covers Dublin and one other region (like Cork or Galway); 7–10 days allows a circular route hitting Dublin, the Wild Atlantic Way, and the north; 2+ weeks lets you explore smaller towns, islands, and rural landscapes without rushing.

Question 3

Do I need a car to get around Ireland?

Accepted Answer

A car is useful for exploring rural areas, coastal drives, and the Wild Atlantic Way, but not essential—buses (Bus Éireann, GoBus) and trains connect major towns affordably, and Dublin is fully walkable. Driving is on the left side of the road; roads narrow considerably outside cities.

Question 4

What are the top things to do in Ireland?

Accepted Answer

Must-sees include Dublin's Temple Bar and Guinness Storehouse, the Cliffs of Moher, the Ring of Kerry scenic drive, Galway's bohemian atmosphere, the Giant's Causeway, and the medieval sites of Cashel and Glendalough. The Wild Atlantic Way coastal route is ideal for road-trippers.

Question 5

Is Ireland safe for tourists?

Accepted Answer

Ireland is generally very safe with low violent crime rates. Standard urban precautions apply in Dublin city centre at night; petty theft from rental cars and pickpocketing in crowded areas are rare but possible. Tourist areas, countryside, and towns are exceptionally safe.

Question 6

What currency does Ireland use and what is the cost of visiting?

Accepted Answer

Ireland uses the Euro (€). Budget roughly €60–100 per day for hostels/budget accommodation, €15–25 for meals at casual restaurants, and €10–15 for pints in pubs. Mid-range travellers should budget €100–200/day. Attractions like Cliffs of Moher (€8) and Guinness Storehouse (€28) are reasonably priced; transport is affordable via Bus Éireann and Irish Rail.
