About this activity

An 8-hour guided loop from Brașov through three of Transylvania's most distinctive historical and geological landmarks: the fairy-tale medieval town of Sighișoara, the ancient Rupea Citadel with panoramic views, and the dramatic volcanic Răcos Geological Complex with its columnar basalt formations and Emerald Lake.

Early in the morning, your guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Brasov. (Please feel free to write down your hotel name in Brasov, on the relevant section when booking.)

You will be taken to the medieval city of Sighisoara, with its picturesque cobbled streets and authentic buildings from centuries ago. Climb on top of the Clock Tower, visit the Church on the Hill and discover the many interesting Art & Crafts galleries in the old city center. (please note that on Mondays many museums are closed)

Head back to Brasov and stop to visit the Rupea citadel, one of the oldest archaeological sites in Romania. Climb on top of it and take stunning photos of the beautiful panorama of Rupea city and the surrounding hills.

Get in the car and visit Racos, with its famous geological complex. See how the volcanic eruptions created basalt columns, take a short walk to the Emerald Lake, named after its greenish color and go inside the volcanic crater nearby to witness one of the most spectacular geological phenomena in Romania. Watch your step when strolling along its crater edge!

After the visit you will be taken back to Brasov and dropped off at your hotel.
