About this activity

Discover four iconic Campanian destinations in a single day: traverse the legendary Amalfi Coast's clifftop villages, then explore the haunting ruins of Pompeii with expert commentary. This 7.5-hour shore excursion combines coastal beauty with ancient history, led by knowledgeable guides who bring each location to life.

A magical experience for some of the most characteristic cities in the south, experience with experienced people who will be very eloquent in showing you the monuments and cities. The Amalfi Coast is a 50-kilometer stretch of coastline south of the Sorrento Peninsula, in the Campania region. Famous holiday destination, it is characterized by steep cliffs and a jagged coastline dotted with small beaches and pastel-colored fishing villages. The coast winds through sumptuous villas, terraced vineyards and lemon groves overlooking the sea. The tour includes 1-hour stops for each of the planned cities. On request it is also possible to have a 1 hour lunch break in a family house trattoria to taste a Menu set (all inclusive) with traditional local food, drinks, wine and dessert. Pompeii will be our last stop, a professional guide is the best solution to get to know the most important Pompeii sites in detail. The on-demand guide is not included in the tour price. (2h)

Highlights

  • One hour each in Ravello, Amalfi, and Positano—three of the Amalfi Coast's most photogenic towns
  • Dramatic coastal scenery: vertical cliffs, pastel fishing villages, and terraced lemon groves
  • Two hours at Pompeii's archaeological site to explore the city frozen by Vesuvius
  • Optional traditional lunch at a family-run trattoria with local wine and regional dishes
  • Professional English-speaking guide (available on request; additional cost applies)

Insider tips

  • Book the Pompeii guide in advance if you want detailed context on specific sites—self-guided exploration is possible but far less rewarding at this complex site.
  • The coastal towns can feel crowded mid-morning; use your free hour strategically to photograph quieter angles before midday tourist flow.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes with good grip—steep streets and uneven Roman cobblestones demand sturdy footwear.

Good to know

  • Comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes required for Pompeii's volcanic terrain; bring sunscreen and a hat for the archaeological site.
  • Professional Pompeii guide costs extra and is not included in the base price; arrange when booking if desired.
  • Optional lunch break at a family trattoria includes traditional multi-course meal with wine and dessert; request when booking.
  • Pickup/dropoff from Naples cruise port or city hotels; confirm exact meeting point and time with supplier.
  • Roads along the Amalfi Coast are narrow and winding; not recommended for those with motion sensitivity.
