Aldeyjarfoss waterfall in Skjálfandafljót river in North Iceland is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland. It falls 20 meters into a turbulent, icy cold pool. Surrounded by beautiful basalt columns, this waterfall is as magnificent as they get.
Aldeyjarfoss in the right light is the perfect photography location. We also visit the famous Goðafoss and the less known, but truly beautiful, Hrafnabjargarfoss and Ingvararfoss.
Late spring through early autumn (June–August) offers the most stable weather and longest daylight for photography. Visit early morning or evening to capture soft light on basalt columns and avoid peak midday crowds at Goðafoss.
