About this activity

Experience whale watching under Iceland's perpetual summer daylight in Akureyri's fjord, where humpbacks, minkes, and dolphins roam during the midnight sun season. This 3-hour evening cruise combines the thrill of marine wildlife spotting with the surreal experience of daylight at 8:30 PM, offering a uniquely Icelandic adventure.

The mystical midnight sun and the nature of the fjord provide a unique nature and wildlife experience. A truly wonderful whale watching experience in the magical summer sun and everlasting daylight.

Available: 15 June - 14 August
Time: 20:30 / 8.30 PM
Duration: 2,5 - 3,5 hrs.

Stop by our ticket office by Oddeyrarbót pier in Akureyri city centre where you will exchange your pre-paid voucher for admission tickets. As whales never fully sleep, we can expect to see the same whales as on our day tours, that is, the Eyjafjord Humpbacks, the occasional Minke whales, porpoises and even dolphins.

To make the tour even more enjoyable and memorable, we often shut down the boat engines to enjoy the soothing sound of the water, the whales and the birds. The Midnight Sun tour is ideal as a relaxing end of a busy day or as a beginning of a fun night in town. If you're in the mood for some light snacks or drinks, have a look at our onboard bar menu - we recommend the Whale Punch (rum infused hot chocolate)!
Although our success rate is high, the cetacean abundance is unpredictable and varies with the food availability of our shores. In case no whales or dolphins make an appearance on the tour, we will offer you a complimentary ticket to try again within 2 years!

Please be aware that the weather can change rapidly in Iceland and therefore the captain could decide to alter or cancel the tour on short notice for safety reasons. In this case we will contact you as soon as possible with the contact information you provide in the booking process.

*This tour is operated by our sister company Akureyri Whale Watching*
