After an early breakfast we leave for 1-hour drive to the small village of Imlil. We meet our guides and mules, load up and set off for the six hour trek to the small refuge below the summit. The tracks are quite steep and narrow in places. We continue climbing through remote mountains and over several passes before finally arriving at the refuge where we spend the night.
Climbing the highest peak in the Maghreb is done without major difficulties. A rocky path up near the camp in a landslide in a valley and then collected more encumbered with large blocks. The final peak is broad and goes down gradually when approaching to the summit, however high cliffs plunging into the opposite of the Ifni Lake .On arriving in the village we will meet our transport and return to Marrakech.
April–May and September–October offer stable weather, lower snow risk, and milder temperatures. July–August is warm but crowded; November–March brings snow and ice, requiring specialist winter gear and experience.
