Snaefellsnes peninsula, or Little Iceland as many like to call it, combines several of Iceland's most representative landscapes into one peninsula. This peninsula is well-known for the presence of Snaefellsjökull, the volcano through which Jules Verne takes his readers in his famous novel Journey to the Center of the Earth. Our journey will include visits to caves, white-sand beaches and basaltic cliffs in one of Iceland's most beautiful environments.
Our route will take us through the southern part of Snaefellsnes peninsula and work its way around Snaefellsjökull volcano. We will stop to see Arnastapi´s spectacular rock formations and walk along the basalt cliffs to enjoy the waterfowl in the area.
We will then venture on to Djúpalónssandur, a beach with a curious history from the vikings that lived in the area. Finally, before heading back, we will visit the very unique and photo-worthy Kirkjufell mountain and Kirkjufellfoss waterfall.
