About this activity

A curated 5-hour small-group tour spanning Buenos Aires' most iconic neighbourhoods—from the tree-lined elegance of Recoleta to the passionate energy of La Boca and the contemporary waterfront of Puerto Madero. Ideal for cruise passengers, this premium excursion balances cultural landmarks with insider access to the city's evolving character.

We will start in the north where we will find wide green spaces and beautiful French style mansions. In this area we will have our first stops: the emblematic Floralis Generica and the famous cemetery of Recoleta where we will visit the Mausoleum of Eva Peron. In the center of the city we will pass through 9 de Julio Avenue, we will observe some of the most important points of interest such as the Colon Theater and the Obelisk. Upon reaching Plaza de Mayo, the Casa Rosada, the Cabildo and we will enter the Cathedral. The tour continues to the south visiting San Telmo, and La Boca, where you can feel the passion for football in the famous Bombonera. We will observe the colorful tenements, home to the Italian immigrants of the late 19th. century, the picturesque Caminito street that gives name to Carlos Gardel’s famous tango. The tour ends in the modern neighborhood of Puerto Madero, the most varied gastronomic area of Buenos Aires. You can aquire premium or classic service.

Highlights

  • Floralis Generica sculpture and Recoleta Cemetery, including Eva Perón's mausoleum
  • 9 de Julio Avenue, Colón Theatre, and the iconic Obelisk
  • Casa Rosada, Cabildo, and interior Cathedral visit on Plaza de Mayo
  • La Boca's colourful Conventillos and Caminito street (birthplace of tango)
  • Bombonera Stadium view and Argentine football culture
  • Puerto Madero's modern dining and waterfront promenade

Insider tips

  • Book the premium option for smaller group sizes and potentially shorter waits at major sites like the Cathedral and Recoleta Cemetery.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes—you'll cover significant ground between bus stops across five distinct neighbourhoods.
  • Visit Recoleta in mid-morning to avoid peak crowds at Eva Perón's mausoleum; La Boca's colours are most vivid in bright daylight.
  • Ask your guide about tango history at Caminito; many guides are passionate about the music's roots in this neighbourhood.

Good to know

  • Duration is 5 hours total; plan accordingly if you have a ship departure time.
  • Tour includes interior access to the Cathedral on Plaza de Mayo; modest dress (shoulders and knees covered) is respectful.
  • Primarily coach-based with walking segments at each neighbourhood stop; limited stair-free access at some historic sites.
  • Operates as a shore excursion, so meeting point coordination with your cruise line is essential—confirm details at your port.
  • Both premium and classic service options available; premium typically includes smaller group size.
