1 / 6Self-Guided The Roermond Syndicate City Escape Game
About this activity
A self-guided interactive escape game that transforms Roermond into your playground as you hunt down the criminal Magnus and recover stolen formulas. Solve puzzles, riddles, and photo challenges using only your smartphone while exploring the city's streets and landmarks at your own pace.
The Munsterplein in Roermond is where you pick up the first message, with the Munsterkerk on one side of the square. The route then leads past the Bisschoppelijk Paleis and further on towards the Minderbroederskerk. Nothing is staged indoors: this is an outdoor escape room, and the square counts as the first room.
Roermond has a small, level centre with short streets, so it is hard to get lost even when the shopping crowds are out. Teams of two to five people work from one phone, and each player is assigned a character whose role covers something the others cannot see. Groups of more than five divide into extra teams and settle it between them. There is no guide and no scheduled departure.
How to play
Getting under way in Roermond takes four steps.
- Book the City Game
- Check the instructions email
- Download the Loquiz app
- Start playing whenever you like
Magnus has the formulas and has left a chain of codes, riddles and photo tasks behind him. You move along it by swapping information between characters and checking what each role has been told. Part of the trail runs past the Straatkapel Luifelstraat before it turns back to the centre.
More than one team on the same route makes it a contest, and that is generally how colleagues end up playing it. You can stop midway, do something else and return to the story afterwards. The last clue keeps you in Roermond.
