About this activity

A self-guided escape game that transforms Leipzig into your playground, blending interactive storytelling with urban exploration. Solve puzzles, riddles, and photo challenges across the city to catch a criminal and recover stolen formulas—all on your smartphone at your own pace.

Your team gathers on the Markt in Leipzig, where the first task arrives, and the trail leads off between the old trading houses from there. It runs past the Museum der bildenden Künste, over to the Nikolaikirche and out to the open space of Augustusplatz. This is an outdoor escape game, so everything happens at street level.

The centre of Leipzig sits inside a ring, and almost every stop is a few minutes from the last, which makes it workable for families with younger children as well as for groups of colleagues. Two to five players share one phone as a single team, and each person is handed a character with a specific role in the operation. Teams of more than five split up and buy another ticket. There is no guide walking ahead of you and no departure time to keep.

How to play

Four steps before Leipzig starts giving up its clues.

  1. Book the City Game
  2. Check the instructions email
  3. Download the Loquiz app
  4. Start playing whenever you like

Magnus took the formulas, and the search for him runs through the older streets near the Thomaskirche and up towards Richard-Wagner-Platz. Your team decodes messages, tackles riddles and completes photo tasks, and because the characters know different things the group has to compare notes constantly.

With more than one team playing, the afternoon becomes a contest and the finishing scores settle it, which suits a work outing. Stopping for coffee and picking things up an hour later changes nothing. Leipzig is the board the whole game is played on.
