Grabbeplatz in Dusseldorf is where the mission opens, between the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf and the tower of St. Andreas. The route slips into the old town from there and continues to Burgplatz and the Schlossturm at the river. Outdoors from beginning to end, it is a city escape game rather than anything you could do sitting down.

Dusseldorf keeps its old town in a small grid of busy lanes, and the walking is flat, which helps families with children, friends, couples and colleagues alike. Two to five players share one phone as a team, and each player takes on a character with a role the group cannot do without. Anyone beyond five joins a second team. There is no guide and no timetable to keep to.

Magnus is carrying the stolen formulas and staying a step ahead. Cracking codes, solving riddles and setting up photo tasks moves the team past the Radschlägerbrunnen and back through the lanes off Burgplatz, and every character contributes something specific to the search. The team that keeps talking gets furthest.

Several teams running at once makes a race of it, and that is why groups use the game for team building. Break for something to eat and start again afterwards. Dusseldorf holds the trail open until then.
