Our epic journey starts with a ride from your hotel to Santorini’s south coast to Mesa Pigadia. A serene beach with black sand. From here, we’ll hop on our kayaks and paddle along the coast. We will pass beautiful cave houses carved into the mountains and rock formations near Black mountain as we explore its sea caves. We’ll enter the iconic sea caves of Black Mountain. Pass one of the oldest lighthouses in Greece, the Akrotiri Lighthouse. Insider tips

  • Go early in the season (May–June) for calmer seas and smaller crowds; morning starts mean you avoid afternoon heat and get the best light for photos.
  • Bring reef-safe sunscreen and reapply after snorkeling—the Aegean sun reflects off white cliffs and water.
  • Ask your guide about the best spots for sea turtle sightings; they're more common near Kampia in deeper, quieter waters.
  • Wear a rash guard or thin wetsuit under your swimwear to reduce sun exposure and protect against sea urchins.

Good to know

  • Hotel pickup from your Santorini accommodation is included; meet your guide at your hotel at the scheduled time.
  • Tour starts at Mesa Pigadia beach on the south coast; no swimming experience or kayaking qualifications required.
  • Bring a towel, water shoes (caves have rocks), waterproof phone case, and a light layer for the boat ride.
  • Lunch is savory Greek fare at a traditional taverna; vegetarian options available with advance notice.
  • Not wheelchair accessible due to beach launching and kayak transfers; moderate fitness recommended for 5 hours of paddling.
