It is a popular spot amongst the tourists, especially at the sunset and at night when the city is lit up. Wat Khao Phra Bat, the Monument of Kromluang Chomphonkhetudomsak, the founding Father of modern Thai Navy, Phra Phut Sukhothai Cholatan, Buddha image in Subduing Mara gesture and Thai Navy's radio station are also located on the hilltop.

Highlights

  • Phratumnak Hill viewpoint with sweeping Pattaya Bay panoramas
  • Big Buddha statue (Phra Phut Sukhothai Cholatan) in classic meditation pose
  • Wat Khao Phra Bat temple complex with naval monuments
  • Buddha Laser attraction (modern light installation)
  • Nong Jab Tao Temple and gem factory stops
  • Perfect sunset or night photography from hilltop vantage points

Insider tips

  • Book the afternoon slot (12:30–17:00) to catch the sunset from Phratumnak Hill when the city lights begin to shimmer
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes; the hilltop involves some steps and uneven terrain
  • Bring a camera or phone with good battery—the viewpoints are highly photogenic but there's limited shade
  • Ask your driver to prioritise stops; since there's no guided commentary, you control the itinerary pace

Good to know

  • Two departure times available: morning (08:30–13:00) or afternoon (12:30–17:00)
  • English-speaking driver provided; tour operates without a guide, so bring a guidebook or offline map if you want historical context
  • Private vehicle means flexible scheduling and no group waits, but also no group discounts
  • Gem factory may involve shopping pressure; browsing is optional
