About this activity

Kakopetria and Agios Nicolaos Tis Stegis Unesco World Heritage Painted church are the two basic attractions of this trip.

In our opinion, visiting one of the ten Unesco World Heritage Troodos Painted Churches in Cyprus is a must do activity in our Cyprus.

The laid-back old part of Kakopetria village offers an excellent example of Cyprus rural architecture and a collection of attractions (eg a traditional man powered olive press). For those into nature, a walk up in (almost unique) Troodos is also highly recommended, as is a meal at one of a few village restaurants. The overall itinerary may differ depending on the pick up location. From Nicosia, if there is time we may visit for example also Panagia Asinou church (another one of the ten Unesco World Heritage Troodos painted churches). From Limassol we may visit Omodos village and/or Kelephos medieval Venetian bridge, etc. From Larnaca we may visit Kamares Aqueduct. The trip is customisable.

Besides a short walk at the stream next to old Kakopetria, and subject to time availability, travellers could do Artemis circular trail. For an itinerary from Limassol we could include instead Caledonia Waterfalls trail, the shorter Pano Platres - Myllomeris Waterfall trail, or even a short walk at Kelephos Medieval Venetian Bridge.
