About this activity

Experience Mallorca's diverse landscapes and charming heritage in a single day using three iconic modes of transport: vintage train, historic tram, and scenic boat. This unique itinerary connects dramatic coastal cliffs, hidden beaches, and picturesque mountain villages while showcasing why locals cherish the island's slower, scenic routes.

We start the Tour Mallorca by train, tram and boat leaving from Palma.

After crossing the valley of Lluc by bus, we arrive at the spectacular Sa Calobra Beach and the Torrent of Pareis, where we will enjoy free time for lunch or sunbathe. Then, we will embark on the boat towards the Soller Harbour (in case of bad weather, this part will be done by coach through Puig Major).

The journey back to Palma will be done with the vintage Tram from Port of Soller to Soller city and with the vintage Train from Soller city to Palma city. This itinerary can change, depending on travel conditions.

Lunch is not included in the price. You can ask for picnic at your hotel or have lunch in one of the restaurants in the Sa Calobra beach area.

Highlights

  • Cruise by vintage tram from Port de Sóller to Sóller town through orange groves
  • Explore Sa Calobra Beach and dramatic Torrent de Pareis canyon with free time for swimming or lunch
  • Scenic boat journey along the northwest coast toward Sóller Harbour (weather-dependent)
  • Return journey on restored narrow-gauge train through the Tramuntana mountains to Palma
  • Drive through the verdant Lluc valley and mountain passes with alpine scenery

Insider tips

  • Pack swimwear and bring water shoes for Sa Calobra—the beach has pebbles and the water is pristine but the approach involves stairs
  • Arrive early at your hotel for picnic pickup if you arrange this in advance; restaurants at Sa Calobra tend to get busy midday
  • The vintage tram ride is narrow and charming but can be crowded; sit on the left side for best views of orange orchards
  • If weather forces the boat section to be replaced by coach, you'll still traverse Puig Major's hairpin roads—stunning but not suitable for those prone to motion sickness

Good to know

  • Duration is 8 hours total including transport; departs and returns to Palma
  • Lunch is not included; budget for meals at Sa Calobra or arrange hotel picnic beforehand
  • Itinerary may be reordered or partially substituted due to weather or sea conditions (boat replaced by coach via Puig Major if needed)
  • Vintage train and tram have limited luggage space; keep bags minimal
  • Comfortable walking shoes essential; uneven terrain at beach and modest climbing to reach boat/tram platforms

Who it's for

Heritage and railway enthusiasts seeking authentic vintage transport experiencesPhotographers and nature lovers drawn to dramatic coastal scenery and mountain landscapesFamilies and groups wanting a comprehensive day tour with varied activities and rest time at the beachSlow-travel advocates who prefer scenic journeys over direct routes

Best time to visit

Visit May–June or September–October for warm, stable weather and calmer seas ideal for the boat segment. Morning departures maximize daylight for both mountain views and beach time; avoid peak summer (July–August) for smaller crowds on heritage transport.
