About this activity

Master a foundational conga rhythm pattern in just 15 minutes, then spend the rest of a lively 2-hour session playing along with live demonstrations across jazz, rock, Latin, funk, and pop styles. This audience-participation workshop combines percussion history with hands-on learning, requiring no prior musical experience.

How would you like to learn to play the "Congas in just 15 minutes"? I'm excited to share this new approach to learning for almost anyone of any age. Known as "Tumbao", "Marcha" or "Rhythm Pattern", you can learn to play this basic Conga pattern used in most popular music today in just 15 minutes. In this two-hour audience participation show, I take you through the history of how the Conga drums have influenced American Music (8 minutes), followed by the "15 minute Conga" lesson, and 60 to 70 minute audience play along to rhythms such as Jazz, Rock, Latin, Soul, Funk, R&B and Pop. During the show, I'll also play several Conga rhythms from my recently published book. Participants will take home a printed copy free of charge of the music they just learned, to practice at home. No experience needed. Learn to play the most popular rhythm patterns and learn to READ THE NOTES "GUARANTEED". Play along for an experience like no other. This is an audience participation show
