Ascend Diamond Hill on a 7km loop through Connemara National Park with a private local guide who unveils the region's geology, blanket bogs, wildlife, and cultural heritage. This moderate hike rewards you with panoramic views of Galway's wild Atlantic landscape, with well-maintained paths suitable for those without technical hiking boots.
Join us on a guided hike in scenic Connemara National Park, on a moderate 2-3 hour climb to the top of Diamond hill along one of the four trails that are accessible from the park grounds. It is a looped walk that is 7km in length and has a height gain of roughly 500m. Your local guide will share his knowledge about the park, its flora and fauna, the blanket bogs that are a feature of the area as well as the area’s local history and wildlife.
It is one of the only walks in the area that has a path from top to bottom therefore you do not require hiking boots. It is worth noting that there are steep sections at the top and it can be very windy up there, but the views are well worth it! Bring a bottle of water and suitable clothes for the weather on the day.
Late spring through early autumn (May–September) offers the most stable weather and longest daylight, though Connemara's dramatic character shines year-round. Start early morning to catch clear visibility at the summit.
