About this activity

Escape Budapest for a full-day immersion in Vienna's imperial grandeur—just 240km away. This private guided tour sweeps you along the Ringstrasse to see Austria's most iconic landmarks, then explores the compact historic centre on foot before free time for shopping, museums, or the famous Schönbrunn Palace.

Vienna, the Capital of Austria is situated only 240 kilometres from Budapest, at a 2,5 - 3 hours drive on the motorway. On this tour we drive along the famous Ringstrasse (Vienna’s main boulevard) to give you a first impression of the most important sights of Vienna and show you the City Park, the State Opera House, the Museums of Fine Arts and Natural History, the Parliament, the Burgtheatre, the City Hall and the Votive Church. Then we take a short walk to the most beautiful parts of the city centre: Museumquarter, Hofburg (winter residence of the Habsburgs), Kärtner Strasse (shopping street), the Stephan’s Cathedral, etc. After we provide you time for shopping in the elegant pedestrian area or there is an opportunity to visit Schönbrunn Palace or any other museums, or you can explore Prater, the well-known amusement park.On the way home we stop at Hundertwasser House (journey into the land of creative architecture).

  • Flexible afternoon: choose Schönbrunn Palace, museums, or Prater amusement park

Insider tips

  • The Ringstrasse is best viewed from the coach in the morning light; save your energy for the pedestrian-only centre where the real magic happens.
  • If Schönbrunn interests you, decide early—it's spectacular but can consume 2+ hours; otherwise prioritise St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Hofburg courtyards.
  • Kärtner Strasse is touristy but unavoidable; duck into side streets and courtyards for authentic Viennese cafés away from crowds.
  • Hundertwasser House is small; a 10–15 minute exterior and courtyard exploration is enough unless you book the interior tour separately.

Good to know

  • Duration is 11 hours total, including 2.5–3 hour each-way drive; departs early morning from Budapest.
  • Lunch and drinks are provided; dietary requirements should be noted in advance.
  • Walking component is moderate; comfortable shoes essential for the historic centre.
  • Private guide means personalised pacing, but museum entries and Schönbrunn admission are not included—budget separately if interested.
  • Minimum group size and exact pickup location should be confirmed at booking.
