From Arusha: Full-Day Trip to Tarangire National Park

‘The Elephant Playground,’ as Tarangire is sometimes called, provides a spectacular destination for a memorable day-trip. Huge herds of elephant are a distinctive feature of Tarangire, but the grassland, swamps and floodplains found here are home to big cats, zebras, giraffes, hyenas, wart-hogs, buffalos, baboons and hippo – plus many, many more species. Tree-climbing lions and rock pythons are other local specialties. 

The park will also be a treat for bird enthusiasts. More than 550 bird species abiding in the Tarangire National Park present ample opportunity for bird watching: brightly plumaged yellow necked spurfowls, white crowned shrikes and black necked weavers are among the most frequent sightings here.
