About this activity

Combine Madeira's dramatic landscapes, wine culture, and marine wildlife in one immersive 8-hour adventure. Travel by open-roof 4x4 through off-road mountain terrain to working vineyards and Europe's second-highest sea cliff, then transition to a 3-hour catamaran journey along the south coast for dolphin and whale watching.

From Funchal we drive to Serra d'Agua, a valley at the center of the island. After passing this area, we go off-road meeting fantastic views over the north of the island (Porto Moniz, Ribeira da Janela, Paúl da Serra and São Vicente). Then, you will have an unforgettable experience with the main wine producers in Madeira, followed by a guided tour through the largest vineyards along with a wine tasting (1 rose, 2 white, 2 red- included) and a professional explanation about traditions, wine culture and wine production. From this fabulous experience, we will continue our tour to one of the most visited places on the island, Cabo Girão, the highest cliff in Europe and second in the World (580 meters), known by its suspended glass floor viewpoint, which offers a spectacular panoramic view over the Atlantic, Câmara de Lobos and Funchal. A perfect tour for nature and wine lovers.

After the Jeep tour, our guests will be dropped off at Funchal’s Harbor to start the Dolphin & Whale Watching Trip. Come on board on the Catamaran for a relaxing trip along the south coast of Madeira. The boat trip takes 3 hours with strong possibilities of watching Dolphins & Whales in their natural habitat. During the trip, the crew will give you detailed information about the cetacean species that you are able to see.In the summer months there is the possibility of swimming below Cabo Girao cliff. In case you don’t see any cetaceans, we offer a second boat trip. This trip ends in Funchal’s Harbor.

Highlights

  • Off-road 4x4 drive through Serra d'Água valley with panoramic views of Porto Moniz and the island's north coast
  • Visit to Madeira's largest vineyard with guided tour and wine tasting (5 wines included)
  • Stand on the glass-floored Skywalk at Cabo Girão—580 metres above the Atlantic Ocean
  • 3-hour catamaran voyage with high probability of spotting dolphins and whales in their natural habitat
  • Professional crew narration on cetacean species and marine ecosystems
  • Optional summer swimming opportunity below Cabo Girão cliff

Insider tips

  • Bring a light jacket for the 4x4 drive at altitude—mountain weather changes quickly, and the open roof means wind exposure
  • The glass skywalk at Cabo Girão can feel vertiginous; if you're sensitive to heights, the regular cliff viewpoint offers the same vista without the glass floor
  • Whale and dolphin sightings are most frequent in summer months; if no cetaceans appear, you receive a complimentary second boat trip
  • Wear seasickness medication if prone—the catamaran is stable, but the Atlantic can be choppy, especially in winter

Good to know

  • Total duration is 8 hours including both land and sea activities; plan for an early start from Funchal
  • All five wines are included in the vineyard tasting; designate a non-driver or use the provided transport
  • Swimming below Cabo Girão is available only in summer months and depends on sea conditions
  • The tour ends at Funchal Harbor; confirm your return logistics if you need transport back to accommodation
  • Open-roof 4x4 means exposure to sun and wind—sunscreen and sunglasses recommended
