We start our 5 day Tsavo East, Tsavo west & Amboseli safari trip by heading to the open plains of the Tsavo East for relaxed game viewing drives. This shall be followed by a one night/ day discovery tour of  the Tsavo West with its hilly scenic landscapes and shall include a visit to the Mzima springs to view hippos and crocodiles.  We shall finish by spending two days exploring the Amboseli national park at the floor of the Mount Kilimanjaro on game viewing drives and possible mountain peak views.

Highlights

  • Extended game drives across Tsavo East's open plains searching for lions, elephants, and buffalo
  • Mzima Springs exploration to observe hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat
  • Tsavo West's dramatic volcanic landscape and geological formations
  • Two full days in Amboseli with potential Mount Kilimanjaro views from Tanzanian side
  • Private safari experience with personalised wildlife encounters
  • Cultural interactions woven throughout the 5-day journey

Insider tips

  • Early morning and late afternoon game drives yield the best wildlife sightings when animals are most active; request these timing preferences with your guide
  • Bring binoculars and a camera with good zoom—Tsavo East's vast plains require distance viewing, but patient waiting often rewards close encounters
  • Mzima Springs is less crowded in shoulder seasons (April–May, November); go early to secure prime hippo-spotting positions
  • Mount Kilimanjaro views from Amboseli are clearest in early morning and after seasonal rains; ask your guide about daily visibility conditions

Good to know

  • Private safari means a dedicated vehicle and guide, though group pickups in Mombasa may apply depending on group size
  • Accommodation is typically included; confirm lodge/camp standards and meal inclusions before booking
  • Game drives involve several hours daily in open vehicles with limited shade—bring sun protection, hats, and light layers for cool early mornings
  • Roads between parks are unpaved; the journey is bumpy but part of the authentic safari experience
  • Mobile signal is spotty in remote areas; notify contacts of limited connectivity during the safari

Who it's for

Families seeking a manageable, multi-park safari with varying wildlife and sceneryCouples looking for an intimate private wildlife experienceSolo travellers wanting guided discovery without the intensity of longer expeditionsSeniors and those with mobility concerns—private vehicles allow flexibility, though some game drive days are lengthy

Best time to visit

Year-round wildlife viewing is possible, though the dry seasons (June–October and January–February) concentrate animals around water sources, increasing sighting odds. Mount Kilimanjaro views are sharpest in early mornings and immediately after the November–December rains.
