About this activity

Explore three iconic Galápagos islands—Isabela, Santa Cruz, and surrounding waters—over four days, combining wildlife encounters, snorkeling, and scientific education. This small-group boat tour balances adventure with conservation, taking you from flamingo lagoons to the Charles Darwin Research Station where you'll understand evolution firsthand.

You will be welcomed at your arrival at Baltra airport and a guide will bring you to the harbor of Puerto Ayora. A speedboat will take you to Isabela Island, where you’ll visit the Flamingo lagoon and go snorkeling in beautiful Los Tuneles. Besides, you can choose an optional self-guided snorkeling activity in Concha Perla. Back on Santa Cruz Island, you will visit the Charles Darwin Research Station, learn more about his Theory of Evolution and about the history and ecosystems of Galapagos. You’ll have a closer look at the giant Galapagos tortoises and learn about the famous tortoise Lonesome George, who died in 2012 and was the last one of his species.

Highlights

  • Snorkel at Los Túneles (Isabela Island) among lava formations and marine life
  • Visit Flamingo Lagoon on Isabela for close encounters with breeding pink flamingos
  • Explore Charles Darwin Research Station and learn Galápagos conservation efforts
  • See giant Galápagos tortoises and the legacy of Lonesome George

Insider tips

  • Bring reef-safe sunscreen and a light wetsuit—water temperature varies (19–26°C depending on currents)

Good to know

  • Airport pickup at Baltra is included; arrive with enough time to clear customs
  • Speedboat rides can be choppy; sea-sickness medication recommended for sensitive travellers
  • Snorkeling ability required for Los Túneles; moderate swimming fitness needed
  • Park entrance fee (USD 20 foreigners, USD 10 residents) may not be included—confirm with operator
  • Guides are naturalists; Spanish/English language availability should be confirmed at booking

Who it's for

Snorkelers and divers seeking accessible wildlife encounters without liveaboard commitmentNature enthusiasts and Darwin/evolution buffs interested in conservation scienceAdventure travellers seeking a compact, island-hopping itineraryFamilies with older teens (good swimming ability required)

Best time to visit

Visit June–August or December–January for peak wildlife activity and calm seas. December–January offers warmer water and nesting sea turtles; June–August brings cooler temperatures, stronger currents (affecting snorkeling), but feeding opportunities attract larger marine animals.
