About this activity

Immerse yourself in Georgia's ancient winemaking tradition during this full-day Kakheti experience, where you'll harvest grapes, press wine, and learn traditional cooking directly from local hosts. This autumn-only activity captures the energy of Rtveli, Georgia's centuries-old harvest festival, offering hands-on participation rather than passive observation.

We invite everyone to participate in Rtveli – a traditional vintage and harvest holiday in Georgia that takes place in Autumn. During the holiday, the guests can take part in harvesting and pressing the grapes. Also, the hostess of the house will teach you to cook traditional Georgian dishes. Only in September!

Highlights

  • Harvest and hand-press grapes alongside local winemakers
  • Unlimited Georgian wine tastings throughout the day
  • Learn traditional Georgian cooking from your host family
  • Experience authentic Rtveli harvest festival traditions
  • 8-hour immersive day trip from Tbilisi to Kakheti wine region

Insider tips

  • Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and clothes you don't mind staining with grape juice—harvesting is hands-on and messy in the best way
  • Arrive hungry; the home-cooked Georgian feast paired with unlimited wine is substantial and meant to be savoured slowly
  • Go in September during peak Rtveli season for the most authentic atmosphere and best grape quality
  • If you're sensitive to tannins or have a low alcohol tolerance, pace your wine tastings and eat regularly throughout the day

Good to know

  • Duration is 8 hours including transport from Tbilisi; plan for early morning pickup and late afternoon return
  • All food and unlimited wine are included; no additional meal costs
  • Group activity departing from Tbilisi via bus or minivan; confirm exact pickup location and time with supplier
  • Rtveli only runs in September—this experience is seasonal and not available year-round
  • Physically involves standing, bending, and grape-pressing work; moderate fitness helpful but no special skills required
