About this activity

Set sail from Puerto Colón on a 3-hour catamaran to encounter pilot whales, dolphins, and potentially larger cetaceans in their natural Atlantic habitat off Costa Adeje. Expert guides share insights on these marine mammals' behaviour and ecology while you swim, sunbathe, and enjoy refreshments in Tenerife's warm waters.

This great excursion leaves every day from Puerto Colón, in Costa Adeje (Tenerife). The 3-hour Catamaran boat leaves daily and sails, looking for whales and dolphins in the coastal area of Costa Adeje. On this Dolphin and Whale watching Tour, the catamaran crew will inform you about the characteristics of the cetacean species in their natural environment. You'll learn about their species, food migrations etc. Once you have had the chance to appreciate the cetaceans you can relax and sunbathe or just get a swim in the warm Atlantic Ocean. Finally return to Puerto Colon.

You'll almost certainly get to see pilot whales on your boat trip. They inhabit the warm waters around the boat, maximizing the likelihood that you'll spot them. You may even get lucky and spot some bigger whales, dolphins, or turtles too.

Please note sun beds are extra and are on a first come first served basis!

Insider tips

  • Arrive early to secure a good viewing spot and claim a sun lounger (available first-come, first-served for an additional fee).
  • Bring reef-safe sunscreen and reapply frequently—the reflection off the water intensifies UV exposure.
  • Morning departures (10:00) often offer calmer seas and better visibility; afternoon departures (13:15) work well if you prefer a later start.
  • Wear a rash guard or quick-dry top if swimming to protect your skin and stay comfortable during the boat ride.

Good to know

  • Bring swimwear, a towel, and waterproof bag if planning to swim.
  • Sunglasses and a hat are essential to reduce glare and sun exposure.
  • The catamaran operates daily at 10:00 and 13:15; gate number confirmed at booking.
  • Children aged 5–12 pay €20; under 5 are free. Adults (13+) pay €40 (prices shown are from €47 per person depending on age).
  • The tour runs 364 days per year (closed only on 1 January); suitable for most mobility levels, though boarding and deck movement require reasonable mobility.
