About this activity

Explore India's largest fort—the UNESCO-listed Chittorgarh—and the sacred pilgrimage town of Pushkar with its ancient temples and holy lake, all in a single 9-hour guided journey from Udaipur with drop-off in Jaipur. This cultural deep-dive combines medieval Rajasthani history with living Hindu spirituality, told through expert storytelling that connects you to centuries of legend and local meaning.

We want to help you discover the medieval fort of Chittorgarh and an ancient Hindu temple in a small town Pushkar.

The Chittor Fort or Chittorgarh is the largest fort in India. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fort was the capital of Mewar and is located in the present-day town of Chittor.

Pushkar is a town bordering the Thar Desert, in the northeastern Indian state of Rajasthan. It's set on Pushkar Lake, a sacred Hindu site with 52 ghats (stone staircases) where pilgrims bathe. The town has hundreds of temples, including 14th-century Jagatpita Brahma Mandir, dedicated to the god of creation, which has a distinctive red spire and walls inlaid with pilgrims’ silver coins.

We are genuinely passionate about the transformative power of storytelling. Stories, history & legends can unite and provide insight across cultural, linguistic, or geographical boundaries.

Highlights

  • Walk the ramparts of Chittorgarh Fort, India's largest and a UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Visit the 14th-century Jagatpita Brahma Mandir with its iconic red spire and silver-coin-inlaid walls
  • Explore Pushkar's 52 sacred ghats (bathing steps) on the holy lake, a major Hindu pilgrimage site
  • Discover 500+ temples nestled in a town on the edge of the Thar Desert
  • Hear curated stories linking medieval Mewar history to present-day spirituality

Insider tips

  • Arrive at Pushkar early in the morning to see pilgrims performing rituals at the ghats—the light and atmosphere are most authentic then
  • Wear sturdy shoes for fort exploration; the ramparts and stairs are uneven and can be steep
  • Bring water and sunscreen; both sites offer limited shade and the desert heat is intense even in cooler months
  • The Brahma Mandir is one of the world's few temples dedicated to Brahma; ask your guide about its unique mythology

Good to know

  • Duration is 9 hours total; plan for significant travel time between Udaipur, Chittorgarh, and Pushkar
  • Drop-off in Jaipur (not return to Udaipur); useful if continuing onward, otherwise arrange separate return transport
  • Comfortable clothing recommended; modest dress (covered shoulders/knees) shows respect at temples and is practical for sun protection
  • Photography permitted at most sites, but check locally at active temples for any restrictions
  • Tour includes guided commentary; English-language guide is standard, confirm at booking for other languages

Who it's for

Best time to visit

Visit October to March when temperatures are mild (15–25°C) and ideal for fort exploration and temple visits. Avoid May–June when heat exceeds 40°C; monsoon (July–September) can make fort paths slippery. Early morning starts are best to beat afternoon heat and catch the most atmospheric light at Pushkar's ghats.
