About this activity

Explore two of Montenegro's most iconic coastal landmarks on a 2-hour guided boat tour from Kotor. Visit the legendary Church of Our Lady of the Rocks—an artificial islet built by fishermen as an act of devotion—then cruise to the UNESCO-listed baroque town of Perast, where centuries-old palaces and medieval towers line a single enchanting street.

Please note: This tour includes hotel pick up and drop off service. Simply select the pick up place of your preference from the list under the availability section and our driver will be on his way!

Please note: If you don't want to be picked up, you can meet us at Park Slobode

The tour starts at the city park near Kotor’s port, 200 m from Old town’s main gate. Our first stop is at an islet in the middle of Boka Bay, which bears the name of the church that’s settled on it – Our Lady of the Rocks.

Tales speak of an icon of the Holy Mother of God with Christ, found by seamen after a shipwreck. In commemoration of the event, local fishermen vowed to throw rocks at the same spot where the Lady had been found, thus enlarging and creating a beautiful artificial islet that harbours the church that’s been built in Her honour.

Next comes the cruise to a small picturesque town called Perast. This UNESCO World Heritage site, with its Baroque architecture, historic palaces, Catholic churches, and medieval towers, will take you back to the ancient times. In spite of having only one main street, the Old town is packed with history, attractions and hedonistic experiences that visitors will cherish for many years to come.

Highlights

  • Boat access to the Church of Our Lady of the Rocks with its compelling shipwreck legend
  • UNESCO World Heritage baroque architecture in Perast's compact Old Town
  • Historic Catholic churches and medieval fortification towers
  • Scenic Boka Bay cruise with mountain and coastline views
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off included from central Kotor locations

Insider tips

  • Arrive early to secure a spot at the church islet—popular times can mean crowded boats and limited landing time
  • Bring a camera and waterproof bag; the boat offers unobstructed photo angles of both sites, especially during golden hour
  • Wear comfortable shoes for exploring Perast's narrow lanes and uneven cobblestones
  • If driving yourself, parking is available at Park Slobode (the official meeting point); hotel pickup saves time navigating Kotor's old town

Good to know

  • Duration is 2 hours total; includes travel time, so allow extra time for photography or leisurely exploration in Perast
  • Hotel pickup available from select Kotor accommodations—choose your location during booking; alternative: meet at Park Slobode, 200m from Old Town main gate
  • Boat-based tour; expect Mediterranean sun exposure—bring sunscreen, hat, and water
  • Church interior visits depend on active services and tide conditions; confirm details with your operator
  • Steep boat steps and rocky terrain at the islet may challenge mobility; ask operator about accessibility when booking
