The Tirana case begins outside the Bashkia Tirane, the city hall, and moves off into the blocks around it. Within the first stretch you pass the Et'hem Bej Mosque, the Clock Tower of Tirana and the entrance to Bunk'Art 2. What you are playing is a detective game on foot, worked out entirely from your own phone.

The centre here is flat and the distances between stops are short, so this suits families with children as much as groups of friends, couples or colleagues. One phone carries a team of up to four people; a bigger group buys extra tickets and splits into separate teams. Solo play is fine as well. No guide walks ahead of you and there is no fixed hour at which you have to be anywhere.

The case is the murder of Balthasar. Codes have to be cracked, photographs taken in the right spot, and statements from digital characters weighed against one another. The trail runs past Tirana Castle and the National Gallery of Arts, then cuts through Rinia Park, where one witness insists he spent the whole evening.

Send out more than one team and it turns into a contest, which makes it a practical teambuilding option as well as an afternoon out. Break for coffee, come back to it later, and close the case in Tirana whenever you are ready.
