Insider tips

  • The drive to Essaouira (~2.5 hours) crosses beautiful Argan forests—ask your guide to stop at viewpoints for photos and to learn about the landscape's ecology.
  • Essaouira's fishing port is most lively in the morning; if timing allows, watch boats unload their catch before lunch.
  • The Atlantic wind picks up in afternoon, making morning/mid-day the best window for comfortable surfing lessons.

Good to know

  • Bring a wetsuit or rashguard (the Atlantic is cooler than Mediterranean), water shoes, and sunscreen; towels typically provided by the surf operator.
  • Lunch in Essaouira is on your own; the port area has excellent fresh seafood restaurants at moderate prices.
  • Meeting point is your Marrakech accommodation; departing 9:00 AM, returning approximately 6:00–6:30 PM.
  • Beginner-to-intermediate surfers are well-catered for; experienced surfers should confirm break difficulty with your guide in advance.
  • Limited wheelchair accessibility in the medina's narrow lanes and at the fishing port; contact operator if mobility assistance needed.
