About this activity

The Stuttgart game starts at the Jubiläumssäule in the middle of Schlossplatz, with the Neues Schloss on one side. The trail crosses the square, goes past the Old Castle and continues towards the Stuttgart Opera. It is a self-guided murder mystery game, played on foot, and the centre of Stuttgart is where it plays out.

Families with children, groups of friends, couples and colleagues all play this, and one person alone can do it too. Four players to a team, one phone between them; larger groups buy extra tickets and split into teams. The central squares of Stuttgart are flat, pedestrianised and close together, so the walking asks little and the puzzles ask more. There is no guide and no set start time.

The case is the murder of Balthasar. Codes turn up, photo tasks have to be set up, and digital characters give accounts that do not fit together. Part of the trail runs past the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, and with every puzzle solved another suspect drops away.

Two or more teams playing at once makes it a race, which is why it also serves as a teambuilding activity for a department. Stop for a break, continue when you like, and close the case in Stuttgart at your own pace.
