About this activity

A 9-hour coastal escape from Athens culminating at the iconic Temple of Poseidon during golden hour. Travel through scenic Athenian suburbs and the Sounion National Park to witness one of Greece's most photogenic ancient ruins set against an Aegean sunset.

Meet with our Tour Leader in our office and depart immediately for Cape Sounion with our air-conditioned vehicle. Drive along Attica’s scenic coastal road, which offers a great view of the Saronic Gulf. Pass through some of the most beautiful suburbs of Athens, such as Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, and Varkiza, and admire the idyllic beaches and the small islands offshore. Stop at the most famous spot in the Riviera of Athens and enjoy the breathtaking view.

On our way to Cape Sounion, drive through the National Park of Sounion and admire the Mediterranean landscape, a few kilometers away from Athens. Pass by small vineyards, olive tree gardens and stop at the traditional village of Aghios Konstantinos to explore the majestic “Incuse Chaos”. This unique geological phenomenon was created by the collapse of some of the many mining stoas of the area. Pass by ancient quarries and find out more about the history and geology of the area.

Arrive at Cape Sounion and be astonished by the monumental Temple of Poseidon built in the late 5th century BC. Take amazing photos using your photo frames, provided exclusively by us, and enrich your photo portfolio. Hear the Mythical tales of Theseus, Ariadne, and Minotaur and explore the Temple of Poseidon, God of the Sea, whilst enjoying a breathtaking panoramic view of the Aegean Sea. Prepare yourselves for the highlight of this small-group half-day tour, the Sunset hour. Watch the sun dip into the Aegean Sea and marvel at the magnificent colors of the sky.
