Did you know?

Walking tours cover on average 3-5 km and are the best way to discover hidden gems.

About this activity

Secrets of Hamburg starts on the Rathausmarkt in front of the Hamburg Rathaus and turns the inner city into a self-guided walking tour. The route reaches St. Peter's Church and comes out along the Binnenalster. Each of those stops comes with a short piece about the place you are standing in.

The game works for couples, families, groups of friends and colleagues, and just as well for one player. A single ticket covers a team of one to four sharing one phone; bigger groups take extra tickets and play as separate teams. There is no guide walking ahead and no fixed departure, so you decide when to set out through Hamburg.

How to play

From the Rathausmarkt on, everything runs on the phone in your hand.

  1. Book the Exploration Game
  2. Check the instructions email
  3. Download the Loquiz app
  4. Start playing whenever you like

Between the points there are puzzles, riddles and photo tasks that decide where the route goes next. Some want a close look at a statue or a doorway, others a photograph from a set position. The Heinrich Heine Monument is one of the stops on the way, and the game tells you what you have arrived at.

More than one team playing at once turns the walk into a competition, with the results collected on a single leaderboard, which is why it is booked for team-building. Stop for a break whenever you want and continue afterwards. You end with a good part of central Hamburg behind you.
