Secrets of Aalborg Self-Guided Scavenger Hunt & Walking Tour

Secrets of Aalborg begins at Budolfi Kirke and turns the old centre into a self-guided walking tour. The route crosses Gammeltorv and takes in Jens Bangs Stenhus a short walk away. At each of those stops the game gives you something to read about the building in front of you. Along the way it plays like a scavenger hunt through Aalborg, with something to find at every stop.

It suits couples, families, groups of friends and colleagues, and is easy enough to play alone. One ticket covers a team of one to four sharing a single phone, and a larger party buys extra tickets and splits into teams. There is no guide and no fixed start time, so you choose your own moment to walk through Aalborg.

Between the points come puzzles, riddles and photo tasks that choose the next part of the route. Some ask for a careful look at a carved façade, others for a photograph taken from the right angle. Aalborg Kloster is one of the places the route brings you to, and the game explains what you have found.

Two or more teams out at the same time makes it a contest, and the scores land on a shared leaderboard, which is why it turns up as a team-building activity. Break for coffee and continue later at your own speed. By the end the middle of Aalborg will feel familiar.
