About this activity

Dive two signature reefs off Catalina Island—The Wall and The Aquarium—aboard a catamaran from La Romana, spotting lobsters, stingrays, and moray eels along pristine coral formations. This 11-hour excursion combines underwater exploration with island time and Dominican beachside lunch, making it one of the Caribbean's most accessible premium dive experiences.

Catalina Island is recognized as one of the best snorkeling and scuba diving destinations in Dominican Republic.

Catalina Island Scuba Diving is an exciting adventure tour that includes the option to Scuba Dive and Snorkel at Catalina Island, Dominican Republic.

Our tour begins with a scenic drive to La Romana, were guests will board a comfortable two story catamaran and depart to Catalina. Our first stop 'The Wall' is an impressive coral wall that extends to the Caribbean Sea. Our second dive site will be 'the Aquarium,' an enjoyable dive where divers will encounter lobsters, yellow stingrays and moray eels. After diving we will stop by the island, where a delicious Dominican style BBQ lunch awaits. Guests will have free time to relax and explore the island until 3:00 PM. Our transport will be waiting for you in La Romana to take you back to the hotel!

Each dive lasts 30 minutes to 45 minutes.

Insider tips

  • Arrive early to your meeting point; the scenic drive to La Romana adds buffer time before catamaran departure.
  • Pack reef-safe sunscreen and a rash guard—the Caribbean sun is intense, and protection extends bottom time comfort.
  • The Aquarium site is best for spotting moray eels and stingrays; ask your dive master to point out smaller creatures hiding in crevices.
  • Book during calm-sea months (Nov–Apr) for the smoothest catamaran ride and best visibility.

Good to know

  • Each dive lasts 30–45 minutes; certification required (Open Water or equivalent).
  • Bring reef-safe sunscreen, underwater camera, towel, and change of clothes.
  • Hotel transfers included; confirm pickup location and time the day before.
  • Diving is weather-dependent; rough seas may alter dive sites or reschedule the activity.
  • Catamaran has shaded areas and facilities for 11-hour duration; sea sickness medication recommended if prone.
