We take a short break from our drive and have breakfast just before Rethymno for about 25 minutes. We then reach the plateau of Omalos. Here, we will be able to buy some water or small supplies before our crossing and enjoy the surrounding scenery; it is a stunning place with nature at its very best.
Samaria gorge is the longest and perhaps the most impressive gorges that one can walk through in Europe. Walking through it will give you many beautiful and different views of nature; the surrounding White Mountains are impressive and the small river that runs through the gorge along the abandoned Samaria village in the gorge looks like a Hollywood scene. You can also see the Cretan wild goats named Kri-Kri.
The gorge is 18km long and takes around 4-hours to walk through, and our guide will be with you through the crossing.
At the end of the gorge, we see Agia Roumeli. The stunning isolated village lying between the huge rocks of Samaria gorge and the Libyan sea is a beautiful, unique, and unspoiled place. Enjoy a well-earned, relaxing, and refreshing swim in the Libyan sea, and do get impressed by the local tastes in lunch at one of the local small tavernas. From Agia Roumeli the boat departs to the village Chora Sfakion.
We arrive at Chora Sfakion, after a 1hour boat trip. From here we board our buses and start our drive back to our hotels.
On the return journey, we will take one last stop on the way back for a short rest for about 20 minutes.
We stop just before Rethymno for a short rest and breakfast for about 25 minutes.
The plateau of Omalos. Our last stop before entering the gorge, free time to get some last supplies before our gorge crossing.
The impressive gorge, the longest in Europe will give you many beautiful views of the surrounding White Mountains, the small river that runs through the gorge and the Cretan wild goats named Kri-Kri. The gorge is 18km long and takes around 4-hours to walk, always with our guide.
Agia Roumeli, at the exit of the gorge by the Libyan sea. A beautiful isolated village lying between the huge rocks of Samaria gorge and the Libyan sea. There will be enough time to enjoy a relaxing and refreshing swim in the Libyan sea and lunch at one of the local small tavernas.
From Agia Roumeli the boat departs to the village Chora Sfakion.
Arrival at Chora Sfakion, after a 1hour boat trip, embarkation onto the buses and return to the resorts.

I will need weeks to recover (I am 92kilos and 61 years old) but very proud and happy I walked through this magnificent gorge.
Partner loved, I love my partner so in short a great tour. Next time I will be more prepared, need hiking shoes and more water. The gorge is stunning..
A LOT OF WAKING ! but worth it, each and every single step, the swim after the hiking is a blessing
Still recovering as the walk is long but would do it all over again....stunning, thanks.(Can't believe how the guide does this daily)
We had a phenomenal guide - Manos. Stayed in the back of the pack to be absolutely sure everyone in our group finished the hike to catch the Samaria boat and also provided great details and stories about the history of the island. An old couple in our group got left behind (as they were slow) and missed the last boat, these guys stayed back to find them and arranged a small water taxi to bring them back where our bus was waiting, this type of service is not easy to find anywhere. Well done .
We used them to plan a trip to the Samaria Gorge for 12 people. I was bit hesitant at first to go through the web for a day trip to the Samaria Gorge , I am very glad I chose these guys though. We had to cancel twice (!) and they did not charge a penny, all the details were fine and both driver and guide would respond to any questions we had , thanks, all were wonderful.!!!
We joined 2 of the organized excursions on the island, Samaria gorge and elafonissi. Both great excursions and also great guided! Bravo guys, next time will do Samaria at the end though, lots of walking and bit tired
Booked the Samaria Gorge through the web, so neither my partner nor I knew anything about the company. The whole day was excellent, the gorge walk itself was incredible and, because we both managed to complete the hike in a good time, we also loved the beautiful town of Agia Roumeli at the end and a Libyan sea swim…
Manos, our driver from Chania is a great and safe driver! Such a pleasant day we spent together driving around the island will definitely try daytrip4u next time, loved Crete !!!
Fully agree with the positive reviews. We did Samaria gorge and Knossos trip, all, guides , drivers, staff know staff and are friendly. Transport on time and very comfortable.
Overall a good day trip to Samaria Gorge from Heraklion. New and very comfortable coach driven by a competent driver Brief stop at tavern for breakfast & 10 minute break just out side the Samaria Gorge entrance. Coffee was crap, get a coke ! Guide was very competent & available . You need to wailt long wait for return ferry so enjoy the sea..good time though
It took us almost 6 hours to go through the gorge, would we do it again, yes but I wish I had stronger feet :-) , the sea at the end of the gorge is like an oasis....tiring but such a lovely time...have some water with and try to see the wild goats looking at you from heights..cool
Walk the gorge on running shoes, nothing else does it...amazing place , very long walk but the scenery is second to none...get some fresh water with and perhaps a chocolate bar. The rocks down the path seem out of space, very impressive and the sea at the end really pays off. Suggestion , get a good rest the night before
