About this activity

Explore Bulgaria's pioneering national park on a private snowshoeing adventure across Vitosha's pristine winter landscape. This 6-hour guided trek immerses you in a protected Balkan wilderness featuring ancient forests, hidden reserves, and dramatic mountain terrain just outside Sofia.

Vitosha is the first park in Bulgaria and on the Balkan Peninsula. It was declared a national park on 27 October 1934. In 2000 the park was categorized as Nature park. Nowadays its territory is 27,079 ha. 2 nature reserves are situated on its territory - “Bistrishko Branishte” (Bistritsa Forest Reserve) and “Torfeno Branishte” (Turf Forest Reserve), as well as one natural landmark (the Duhlata Cave).

Vitosha offers excellent conditions for winter treks. We take you at the Vitosha Nature Park for an unforgettable snowshoes experience. Be ready! Let's experience the mountain hidden gems together.

If the weather conditions do no allow snowshoeing you are going to be upgraded for free to hiking the Vitosha mountains with the Black peak with a total duration of about 5,5 hours.

  • The free upgrade to Black Peak hiking is common when warm spells reduce snow; ask your guide about current conditions when booking
  • Private groups allow flexible pacing; bring a thermos of hot tea—there are limited shelter options at altitude

Good to know
