Sólheimajökull is a raw and rugged outlet glacier in an ever-changing environment.

On this Private Glacier Hike on the Sólheimajökull tour, you’ll be surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges, the glacier slowly but steadily crawls backward, giving our experienced glacier guide a new challenge every day! His aim is to get you away from the crowd, finding nooks and crannies to explore on your own; walking between deep crevasses, amazing ice formations, jagged ridges, and spine-tingling sinkholes!

Our journey starts with a moderate walk to Sólheimajökull Glacier. As the glacier comes into view, you’ll get your first glimpse of the vast ice field stretching ahead. It’s an incredible sight—and before long, you’ll be walking on the glacier itself.

The guide then gives a short but very important demonstration of how to properly use the glacier equipment. When we’re ready we head up the icy but easily accessible slopes onto our adventure, taking in the amazing surroundings on our way.
