About this activity

Immerse yourself in Normandy's layered history over three days—from D-Day beaches and moving WWII memorials to Mont-Saint-Michel's medieval majesty and charming apple-orchard villages. This private tour prioritizes depth over speed, with a dedicated guide tailoring the itinerary to your interests while uncovering the stories of dukes, conquerors, and soldiers that shaped the region.

This is the perfect tour for those looking for a real immersion in Normandy.

Being with you a couple of days, I 'll have the time to customize things exactly as you want.

On these 3 days, you'll see what makes Normandy so special.

From its medieval walls to its WWII Nazi canons, through the lovely apple orchards and spotted cows, Normandy is so much more than the 21st district of Paris, as Parisians call it.

You'll walk on Omaha Beach, hear the stories of many of the 9388 GI's resting at the Normandy American Cemetery, and walk the steps to the Abbey of the Mont St Michel.

In Falaise, Bayeux, Caen and Crèvecœur you'll delve into the stories of conquerors, dukes, and duchesses, knights and crusaders.

You'll also have plenty of time to taste the real Camembert in Camembert and to drink some of our delicious Calvados in the best local distilleries ( apple brandy ).

At the end of your trip you'll know much more about Normandy than a true Parisian

Highlights

  • Walk Omaha Beach and visit the Normandy American Cemetery with 9,388 graves
  • Climb Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey and explore its medieval ramparts
  • Tour historic towns: Bayeux, Caen, Falaise, and Crèvecœur-en-Auge
  • Taste authentic Camembert cheese in its birthplace village
  • Sample Calvados apple brandy at working local distilleries
  • See Norman countryside: cider orchards, half-timbered houses, and pastoral landscapes

Insider tips

  • Book early if visiting summer; fewer tourists explore distilleries in shoulder seasons when apples are freshly pressed
  • Wear comfortable shoes—medieval town exploration and abbey stairs demand good footwear
  • Ask your guide to focus on either WWII history or medieval/ducal heritage if time is tight; customization is the tour's strength
  • The Calvados distilleries often include tastings; pace yourself or designate a non-drinker to enjoy descriptions fully

Good to know

  • Private tour means pickup from your Paris accommodation; confirm location and time the day before
  • 3-day itinerary includes accommodation and meal recommendations but typically doesn't include lodging or meals unless specified
  • Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey has stairs; notify the guide of mobility concerns in advance for timing flexibility
  • Photography is permitted at beaches, cemeteries, and towns; respect silence and dignity at WWII sites
  • Bring layers—coastal Normandy weather is unpredictable; waterproof jacket recommended

Who it's for

History buffs seeking deep WWII and medieval European context beyond guidebook factsCouples and small groups valuing customizable itineraries over group-tour rigidityFood and drink enthusiasts keen on regional specialties (Camembert, Calvados, cider)Photographers wanting golden-hour access to iconic sites without time pressure

Best time to visit

Visit May–September for warm, dry conditions and fully operational distillery tours. Spring (April–May) and early autumn (September–October) offer fewer crowds and dramatic skies over the coast. Avoid November–March when shorter daylight and heavy rain limit countryside and Abbey exploration.
