About this activity

Explore Pellumbas Cave, a significant archaeological and karst formation near Tirana, where a moderate hiking trail through forest and mountain scenery leads to a 70–80 metre tunnel network 350 metres above sea level. This half-day excursion combines natural beauty with geological intrigue, enhanced by summer river swimming opportunities.

The Pellumbas Cave, also known as the Black Cave, is an archaeological site in Albania near the village of Pellumbas.
We will travel by private transportation from Tirana to Pellumbasi village for 45 min, then we will start hiking to our destination. The path is an average level and it’s marked. The forest, the Erzen River, Dajti Mountain and the view of the city of Tirana make it an unforgettable place . Hiking to the cave lasts about 1 hour. Once we reach the cave entrance we take a short break and go inside to explore it.
Inside is a very large space and looks like a mine. With the lighters we will see and explore the cave with its unique and fascinating look. This cave entered six well-known karsties for the existence of tires in Europe. The cave is 350 meters above sea level and forms a tunnel 70-80 meters long.
