Nice Self-Guided Detective Murder Mystery Game

The Palais de Justice in Nice, on its square in the old town, is where this case begins. The route works through the narrow streets past the Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate, out to Place Masséna and along the Promenade des Anglais, with the Colline du Château rising behind. It is a murder mystery walking tour, and the streets of Nice are where the evidence is.

The old town of Nice is a grid of narrow lanes, and everything except the climb to the Colline du Château is level walking. Families with children, groups of friends, couples and colleagues all fit; a team is up to four people sharing one phone, and larger groups split into teams that play at the same time. On your own it works too. There is no guide, and no start time to be there for.

The case is the murder of Balthasar. Codes have to be broken, photographs taken at the right spot, and the statements of digital characters compared with one another. Near the Basilique Notre-Dame the accounts stop matching, and what is left of them points in one direction.

Several teams playing at once makes it a competition on points, which is why it also serves as a teambuilding activity. Pause on the seafront, take the case up again afterwards, and close it in Nice whenever you like.
