About this activity

Ring in the New Year from the water on this 90-minute luxury cruise departing Reykjavík's Old Harbour at 11 pm, offering unobstructed views of the city's famous midnight fireworks display from the sea. A complimentary glass of Champagne and prime vantage point make this an elegant alternative to watching from crowded streets.

Get the best view of the famous fireworks and enjoy a glass of Champagne to toast as the clock strikes midnight. You will sail away with Special Tours from Reykjavik´s Old Harbour in the City Centre for an amazing spectacle cruise of Reykjavik and Reykjavik´s World Legendary Fireworks Display!

Our luxury comfort vessel leaves the harbor at 11 pm and will be back in the harbor about half an hour after midnight. Looking at the city from the sea will give you the chance to see ALL the fireworks over Reykjavik. You will receive a complimentary glass of Champagne as midnight approaches and, as the clock hits 12, raise a toast to the New Year.

You can chose from a spot in our cozy indoor saloon or stay on our open-air deck. Then, enjoy the views over the glittering lights of Iceland's capital as your boat cruises out into Faxaflói Bay. After the tour you are dropped off in the heart of city so you can continue enjoying the night in Reykjavík.

  • Complimentary Champagne toast at midnight
  • Luxury comfort vessel with heated indoor saloon and open-air deck options
  • Departs and returns to central Old Harbour for easy city access
  • Returns ~30 minutes after midnight, giving you time to continue New Year celebrations

Insider tips

  • Book the open-air deck early if weather permits—the unobstructed views are worth it, though Icelandic winter conditions mean layers and wind-resistant outerwear are essential
  • The indoor saloon is heated and comfortable; if you're sensitive to cold, you can still see fireworks through large windows while staying warm
  • Arrive 30–45 minutes early to board without rushing; Old Harbour can get busy on New Year's Eve

Good to know

  • Departure at 11 pm from Reykjavík Old Harbour (city centre); return by ~12:30 am
  • Dress warmly—December in Iceland means freezing temperatures and potential wind/sea spray, even on the sheltered deck
  • Complimentary Champagne included; no additional drinks package mentioned, though onboard purchases may be available
  • Both indoor and outdoor spaces available—choose based on weather preference and comfort
