About this activity

Solve a Sherlock Holmes-themed mystery across Mykonos using the Loquiz app in this self-guided detective game that turns the island into your crime-solving playground. Combine sightseeing with puzzle-solving as you uncover clues, follow plot twists, and work through an immersive story at your own pace.

The starting point in Mykonos is Villa Coventina, and from there the case leads down into the lanes of the town. You cross Manto Mavrogenous Square, work your way towards Panagia Paraportiani and end up on the slope where the Windmills of Mykonos stand above the water. It is a self-guided walking tour in the shape of a detective game, played from your phone.

The old town is a maze of white alleys with a few short climbs, which suits families with children, groups of friends, couples and colleagues, and one player alone will manage it as well. A team is up to four people sharing a phone, and larger groups take a ticket per team. There is no guide and no fixed start, so you can take on Mykonos in the quiet of the morning or once the day has cooled.

How to play

Only one app is needed, and the rest happens out on the street.

  1. Book the City Game
  2. Check the instructions email
  3. Download the Loquiz app
  4. Start playing whenever you like

Balthasar is dead, and the killing is yours to solve. Codes have to be cracked, photo tasks completed and the statements of digital characters weighed against each other. Around the Aegean Maritime Museum and in the alleys behind the waterfront the versions stop matching, and every task you finish takes another name off the list of suspects.

With more than one team the town becomes a competition, and the closing scores make this a reasonable teambuilding activity as well as a holiday outing. Pause for a swim or a long lunch, pick up where you stopped, and finish the case in Mykonos.
