About this activity

Cycle through the Venice Lagoon's quieter islands—Lido, Pellestrina, and Chioggia—discovering Belle Époque architecture, working fishing villages, and coastal landscapes you won't find in crowded central Venice. This 4.5-hour bike tour trades canal crowds for lagoon breezes and authentic local life.

Hop from island to island in the lagoon by bike: we will start from the Lido island, with its groomed shellac beaches, bronzed lifeguards and old ladies sipping Prosecco at the market, experiencing the Belle Epoque glamour passing in front of the beautiful hotels designed in the 20s in Art Noveau style. We will bike along the canals of Malamocco, a colorful fishing village that’s like a miniature version of Venice, cycle through a forest reserve to a lighthouse and relax like the locals do by heading to quiet Alberoni beach for a drink or a swim.
We will enjoy special views of Venice biking along the Pellestrina island and its fishing communities strung out the water's edge in jaunty pastel colours.
The route will continue to Chioggia, another miniature of Venice and a fishing community.
You will decide if you prefer to bike back from the same route or to reach Venice by from the mainland, returining to Lido after a spectacular view from the ferry to Lido in front of St. Marks.

Highlights

  • Ride past Art Nouveau hotels and belle époque landmarks on Lido's famous beachfront
  • Explore Malamocco's colourful fishing harbour—a Venice-style village without the tourists
  • Cycle through forest reserves to a working lighthouse with lagoon views
  • Relax at quiet Alberoni beach with a local drink or swim
  • Discover Pellestrina's pastel-coloured waterfront fishing communities
  • Visit Chioggia, another intimate lagoon town with its own canal character

Insider tips

  • Wear layers and bring sun protection—the lagoon offers no shade; afternoons can be intensely sunny
  • Time your visit for late morning to catch locals at markets and cafés; early evening light is golden for photography
  • If returning by ferry from Chioggia to Lido, position yourself on deck for unobstructed views of St. Mark's Basilica across the water

Good to know

  • Tour duration is 4.5 hours; pace is leisurely with stops for sightseeing and swimming
  • Bikes are provided; route is flat and suitable for moderate fitness levels
  • Return option: cycle the same route back or take the ferry from Chioggia mainland connection (scenic but adds travel time)
  • Bring swimwear and a towel if you plan to swim at Alberoni; beach facilities are basic
  • No specific accessibility information provided—confirm mobility requirements with operator before booking
