Classes And Workshops

About this activity

Learn traditional henna application directly from Vertika, a local artist who carries forward generations of family expertise in this ancient Indian art form. This intimate 2-hour session combines hands-on henna design instruction with an authentic meal, offering genuine cultural immersion in Jodhpur.

Hello, I'm Vertika, lead this experience. I am an Indian woman who is obsessed with Indian art and food. Henna is passed to us in our family generation by generation. So we are happy to share our art and culture with you for your India trip. Therefore, I would want to pass on my knowledge with you. I was introduced to the art of Henna ( Mehandi ) as a form of self care. I will be applying traditional Henna designs.

I am talented in specializing in henna workshops for those interested in working with natural henna. Providing quality client experiences, a wealth of resources and focused instruction.

Henna is a green leaf that is dried and mashed into a paste to apply a 2 week stain to the palms, legs and backs of hands.

Highlights

  • Apply traditional henna designs on your own hands under expert guidance
  • Learn the history and cultural significance of mehandi in Indian traditions
  • Work with natural henna paste that leaves a lasting 2-week stain
  • Share a meal prepared and served by your host
  • Small group experience focused on quality instruction and personal attention

Insider tips

  • Arrive with clean, dry hands and avoid lotions or oils beforehand—henna paste adheres better to bare skin
  • The henna stain darkens over 24–48 hours after application, so don't judge the final colour immediately
  • Ask Vertika about family henna traditions; her personal stories add depth to understanding the cultural context
  • Wear clothes you don't mind staining, as henna can transfer during the first few hours

Good to know

  • Duration is approximately 2 hours including instruction, application, and meal
  • Natural henna stain typically lasts 1–2 weeks depending on skin type and care
  • Inform the host of any skin sensitivities or allergies to henna beforehand
  • Designs are applied to hands, palms, legs, and backs of hands—request specific placements with your artist
  • Small group size ensures personalised instruction; confirm group capacity when booking
