At Þingvellir you can stand between the Eurasian and American tectonic plates that are pulling apart at a rate of a few centimetres per year while drinking in the rich Viking history of the area. Kerið CraterWhile this destination isn’t technically part of the famous Golden Circle, this tour is scheduled for seven hours, giving your guide leeway to take you here on your way back to the city. And Kerid is a bonus destination like no other. This is a 3,000-year-old volcanic crater that couldn’t be more picturesque if it was CGI in a sci-fi blockbuster.
