About this activity

Spend a full day exploring Perito Moreno Glacier, one of Argentina's most iconic natural wonders, combining elevated boardwalk viewpoints with an intimate boat cruise along the glacier's face. This comprehensive experience captures the scale and majesty of the glacier from multiple perspectives—from above on scenic paths and up close from the water.

This is a unique experience that will allow you to spend a magnificent day visiting the most spectacular Glacier! Perito Moreno Glacier!

We leave early in the morning from El Calafate and after 80 km we arrive in the walkaway area in front of the Perito Moreno Glacier. During this morning you will have time to walk around the walkaways which connect different viewpoints through paths and stairs and where you can enjoy different views of this spectacular Glacier!

You will also be sailing for approximately 1 hour through the Rich Branch of Argentino Lake at a distance of 150 meters from the South face of Perito Moreno Glacier!

Highlights

  • 80 km journey from El Calafate to the glacier national park
  • Extensive network of elevated boardwalks with varied vantage points
  • 1-hour navigational cruise at 150 metres from the glacier's southern face
  • Witness blue ice walls, calving events, and pristine Patagonian wilderness
  • Guided interpretation of glacier geology and landscape formation

Insider tips

  • Bring layers—Patagonian weather changes rapidly; winds are strong near the glacier, especially on the water
  • Morning departures mean better light for photography and calmer water conditions for the boat ride
  • Stand near the railings during the boat cruise to catch ice calving; bring a camera with fast shutter speed

Good to know

  • Total duration is 8 hours including travel time from El Calafate
  • Boardwalks involve multiple stairs and uneven terrain; moderate fitness helpful
  • Early morning pickup required; wear waterproof jacket and sturdy walking shoes
  • The boat cruise operates weather permitting—conditions can limit navigation in high winds
